| Being our first term there
are some foundational preparations which need to be laid in order to
prepare for a life long ministry in Peru. We have summarized our vision
for this term as simply - A TERM OF PREPARATION. With our primary
calling being church planting, all of our pursuits are directed towards
the ultimate goal of establishing self sustained Baptist churches.
During this, our first four-year term in Peru, we
have three distinct goals which we have committed to the Lord in prayer.
The first of which being of the utmost of importance - LANGUAGE. Our
desire over the next four years is to become fluent in the Spanish
language to a level of proficiency that will enable us to effectively minister to every class of people in Peru.
In addition to learning the language our
second goal is - EXPERIENCE. Included in this goal is a desire to become
avid students of the cultural differences we will face while ministering
in Peru. To do this we will be working closely together with some
veteran missionaries to plant a church in the mountain province of Huanuco. We feel blessed to have the opportunity to work together with
the Stanton family, a Baptist missionary couple that has worked to
establish churches in Peru
for the past twenty three years. During this time we will be able to
witness the establishment of a
brand new Baptist church from start to finish.
We have entitled our final goal for this term - SURVEY.
While working to establish a church in Huanuco, we plan to seek the
Lord's guidance for the place in Peru where He would have us to
establish ourselves for our future ministry. His will permitting we
would like to relocate to this new place and begin setting things in
order before returning to the States for our first furlough in January
of the year 2010.
